Yer face is gonna get rocked...

So for anyone still unaware, I have officially accepted a position as Technical Animation Intern at Insomniac Games for the summer. I start on Monday, June 2, and between now and then will be packing things, moving things, driving home, getting some quality little sister time, driving to New Mexico, golfing, and then off to Vegas before finally arriving in LA-LA-Land on the first of June. I will be living there until the end of August, and will welcome anyone who wants to come visit with open arms. More on all of that later, though. For now, back to Insomniac.

They rock...or at least it appears(and I hope) that they do. They make games exclusively for Playstation, which means you all better run out and get a PS3 to play whatever game it is that I'll be working on. They're known primarily for two series of games. The first is the Ratchet & Clank series.

You may not know this game, but certainly have seen their hilarious commercials where kids are testing out weapons and things go horribly wrong.



The second series they work on is called Resistance, which is a first person shooter game in the same style as something like Halo. Resistance 1 was one of the biggest games to be released on the Playstation 3. Resistance 2 is currently in production and slated for release in November, so I'm anticipating much of my work to be done on this game. I'm not a huge fan of this particular style of game, but this game looks so sweet that I'm definitely pumped to be working on it(probably).


When Insomniac called to make me my offer I was definitely geeking out, and was probably more giddy than if my sister got the opportunity to meet Hannah Montana. It's definitely cool to be working towards a goal in school for so long and to finally at least get a foot in the door towards solidifying a career in something that you've been studying for quite some time. There's always that worry, that no matter how well you are doing in school, your skills might not translate into the real world. So it was definitely an honor to get my demo reel out there and get back a lot of the great comments and interest that I did.

Insomniac seems like a rockin company, with cool perks such as a basketball court, volleyball court, putting green, fully stocked kitchen, and yes, pinball machines. Check out their recruitment video to get an idea of what people stuck in front of computers all day do on their "slow days"
